Know all men by these presents that we Levy L. Kirk and Mary Elizabeth Kirk, wife of said Levy Kirk of Sevier county of the state of Arkansas for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen hundred dollars to us in hand paid by James H. Wilson of the aforesaid county and state, the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have this day bargained, sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain, sell and deliver unto the said James H. Wilson and to his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns; forever a certain Negro boy named Charles, black or dark complexion, aged about seventeen years of age and a slave for life, which said Negro boy we do warrant to be sound in body and mind and a slave for life in witness whereof we have hereunto set out hands and affix our seals at said county of Sevier this 16th day of October A. D. 1862
