FUNERAL NOTICE
Friends and acquaintances of Mr. And Mrs. R. C. Kirk are invited to attend the funeral of their little daughter, GERALDINE VIRGINIA, at the family residence Friday at 9:30 AM conducted by Rev. C.C. Morris. Interment will take place at Denison Cemetery immediately afterward. Idabel, Oklahoma. Nov 22, 1917.
DEATH OF LITTLE GERALDINE VIRGINIA KIRK
One of the saddest funerals that the writer has ever conducted was that of little Geraldine Virginia Kirk, who died Wednesday afternoon, November 21st at three o’clock.
She was taken sick Tuesday afternoon about one o’clock with membranous croup and all that loving friends and faithful physicians could do to save her life was done, but the efforts were in vain and she breathed her last at the above hour stated.
Little Geraldine was one of the brightest and prettiest children I have ever known. She was a member of the primary department of our Sunday School and was faithful in her attendance unless she was ill. She showed unusual interest in all the work of the Lord for one so young. It was a common thing to hear her speak of her love for the Saviour and seemed to realize at her tender age, that Christ was her Saviour and that she was trusting Him.
She was a little flower that God sent into the home of Brother and Sister Kirk, only to bud and shed forth fragrance for a little while and then to transplant to His own flower Garden for the full unfolding where it will await the coming of mother and father, grandmother and grandfather, little brother and other loved ones in that celestial city where sorrow never comes, neither is there sorrow or crying.
The funeral service was held at the family residence in Idabel, Friday morning, November 23rd at 9:30, conducted by Rev. C. C. Morris, and the little body was laid away in Dennison Cemetery where the little mound was covered with beautiful flowers that had been sent by loving friends.
She leaves a little brother three years old, father, mother, grandmother, grandfather and numerous other relatives, who are now going through the deep waters. May the God of all grace sustain them in these sad hours, and many (sic) they take refuge behind this passage of Scripture "And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose", is the sincere prayer of their friend and pastor.
