Mr. Rufus C. Kirk

Horatio, Arkansas

Dear Mr. Kirk:

George Kirk was in to see me a few days ago and said that he had learned that you were cutting the timber off of some of the land on which we have a mortgage.

Now, of course, you understand that when we have a mortgage on the land, it covers the timber; that you have no right to cut the timber without our consent.

If anybody should buy the timber from you and pay you for it, even then we could file suit against such person for the value of the timber and against you for cutting it, so I hope you will be careful about this.

You haven’t answered my last letter, and unless I hear from you by return mail, I’m going to have to file suit against you.

With kindest regards, I am

Yours very truly,

E. F. McFaddin
