Mr. And Mrs. Rufus C. Kirk
Gen. Del.
Horatio, Ark.

Dear Mr. And Mrs. Kirk,

It is with real pleasure that I extend my felicitations to you on the occasion of you sons’ graduation today from the Officer’s Candidate School at Fort Monmouth.

In seventy-three years of distinguished military history the Signal Corps has welcomed a great many brave and excellent officers to its ranks. As a successor to them now, your son has the opportunity to display the characteristics of honor, manliness, and leadership that you have labored in these past years to inculcate in him.

The Signal Corps of the Army of the United States joins you in wishing him success and God-speed in his new assignment.

Sincerely,

Dawson Olmstead,

Major General,

Chief Signal Officer of the Army
