R. C. KIRK

 

R. C. Kirk was born August 26, 1886 in Quinton (Quitman?), Texas and departed this life, August 29, 1951 at the age of 65 years and 3 days, at his home in Horatio, Arkansas.

Funeral services were held August 31, 1951 at 2:00 PM at the Baptist Church of Horatio with Rev. Russell Armor and Rev. Wm. Ashpole officiating. Burial was at Denison Cemetery, Idabel, Oklahoma.

Mr. Kirk was a retired merchant of Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma and Horatio, Arkansas. He was a good neighbor and had a host of friends. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Horatio, approximately 10 years. His last words were, "Every few minutes I have such a wonderful feeling." He was looking forward to the life beyond. The U.S. Navy was very thoughtful and considerate to the family to give the boys leave to visit their father during his last illness.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Lucy Kirk of Horatio; 6 children; France Edward, McNary Arizona; Rufus Harrell, Austin Texas; Willie Gerald, Lawton Oklahoma; Roger Bruce and James Lester of the U.S. Navy; and Miss Marion Marjorie Kirk of Longview, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Emma Thomas, Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Billy Ross Montgomery, Dick Gray, Carl Stinnett, Emmit Casteel, James Clark and Kenneth McMasters.
